What happens to royalty splits if a release is taken down in the new workspace experience?

This article explains how a release takedown affects royalty splits

This article covers royalty splits for our new experience, which we're gradually rolling out. Still on the old experience? Find info about royalty splits here.

In order to use the royalty split feature on a release, it needs to be live in music stores. If you have set up royalty splits on a release that gets taken down due to an expired subscription, either by yourself or by Record Union, you will no longer be able to edit the royalty splits.

Royalties will continue to be paid out for three months after the release is taken down. This is because royalties are reported by music stores with a three-month delay, which is standard practice in the industry (read more about it here). Please keep in mind that the royalties will be paid out using the split settings that were active when the release was taken down.

If you are a split receiver and you've noticed that the status of the release you're receiving royalties from has unexpectedly changed, please reach out to the release manager for more information.
